Electrical Engineer

Critical Frequency Design is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team to design complex Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) to support Avionics and Space integrated communication systems. Design activities will involve the planning, design and development, testing, verification, and system operation of small signal digital/analog electronic hardware and logic components, equipment, or systems.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Mixed signal circuit and board design, schematic capture, PCB layout review, and BOM development
  • Perform board bring-up, integration and test activities for hardware/FPGA logic at board-level and system-level
  • Develop technical documentation such as design requirements, development plans, design reports, test plans, etc.
  • Execute work above to meet or exceed the established engineering and company process and procedures as well as best design guidelines
  • Provide clear communication of design and development approach or plans to technical peers, leads, and management
  • Plan and perform digital engineering research or design development assignments, including responsibility for the digital engineering of part of a major project or a project of medium complexity
  • Concisely translate product specifications into usable digital engineering data/requirements applicable to the particular assignment
  • Complete high-quality work while keeping budget and schedule constraints on track
  • Perform engineering analysis of complex digital circuits and dense mixed signal circuits
  • Perform troubleshooting failure trends in production
  • Provide analysis and technical review support during gate reviews and both internal and customer design reviews
  • Provide technical and estimation support such as basis of estimate development to proposals as directed by management
  • Timely execute work per directions from project engineer or program manager
  • Working across disciplines to ensure adoption of qualifiable designs with scalable manufacturing processes
  • Identifying development risks and mitigation strategies
  • Execute work above with minimal supervision

Qualifications

The candidate must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Person and eligible to obtain a US Security Clearance
  • Four or more years of experiences in the design of mixed signal hardware circuits including FPGAs and CPLDs, ADCs and DACs, microprocessor, and DSP processor circuits, linear and switching voltage regulators, clock circuits, active and passive filters, and serial communication circuits
  • Four or more years of experience with the design, simulation, and test of FPGA based digital logic designs using industry standard design suites
  • Experience with the decomposition, traceability, and verification of digital design requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines and priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Background in Aerospace and Defense Avionics
  • Experience in the lab testing hardware circuits using test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, multimeters, and temperature chambers
  • Knowledge of signal integrity and best practices for layout of mixed signal circuits containing both high frequency and noisy signals
  • Experience in developing small signal digital and anaog hardware designs and capturing them using industry standard schematic capture tools
