Secure Communications on the Move

Modern combat operations call for the swift and secure transfer of data-rich information to decision-makers, even in contested environments and while on the move. Encrypted RF communications are the defacto standard, however, they use detectable emissions, limit the throughput of data and are susceptible to interference or jamming.

Critical Frequency Design uses resilient Free Space Optical (FSO) communications technology to transmit large amounts of information with a low probability of intercept (LPI) and low probability of detection (LPD). Our integrated photonic beam steering solution enables rapid acquisition and tracking with a fraction of the size, weight and power (SWaP) of conventional gimballed systems and is ideally suited for mobile platforms including vehicles, dismounted soldiers and UAVs.
